Post 2 Web/Mobile App Critique

I would like to talk about the app UKG Pro. This app helps businesses and companies manage a lot of different aspects ranging from managing HR, managing payrolls, it helps companies pick out certain talents in certain individuals that the company may feel like they need, it helps track employees times while also letting employees look at open shifts and pick up new shifts that were given up from other employees.

Like all apps, regardless of the platform, they can have some issues, and this app, the UKG Pro app, is no different. This app has a tab that lets you view your notifications, ranging from requests, notices, shift swaps, self-schedule, and more; however, there are some issues embedded in this. One of the biggest issues that I can find is that requests can pile up in your inbox, and there is no way for someone to be able to clear all the requests all at once. Another issue with the request tab is that sometimes, when you click on it, instead of showing you your request, the entire page decides to go blank, and you are unable to view anything except for a white screen that shows your number of requests at the top.

A second issue that this app has is that when someone decides to go and apply for an open shift, you start by scrolling through the dates until you find the one that you want, then you can select it, and it sends the request to the managers; however, you are unable to select multiple shifts at a time. This is because after selecting one shift, it takes you all the way back to today’s date regardless of the date of the shift that you selected, so if you would like to select more than one shift at a time you would have to go through the entire process over and over again for each individual shift that you would like to pick up which can become a very tedious task. So a second improvement that this app could add would be to create and add a new feature that would allow a user to select and apply for multiple shifts at once without having to restart the process by being forced back to today’s current date, Creating this change would make this app more user-friendly well also promoting a much more easier and efficient way for employees to apply for more shifts at a time

A third improvement that could be made on this app would be to allow the users of the app to wipe all or clear all notifications that have been marked as read, so that their notifications don’t keep piling up into the hundreds or possibly thousands. A small fourth improvement that could be done would be to improve the way users view the calendar, currently users can view it and it goes by pay period which for me is Tuesday, so the calendar shows Tuesday first, then the rest of the week unlike on a normal calendar that starts out with Sunday it goes out through the week through Saturday. A fourth improvement that could be made on this app, which I received feedback on from the original discussion post 2, is to improve the calendar view with a more conventional layout, with starts on Sunday that follow through to Saturday would be easier to understand.
